Living the Status Quo
Living and working as a digital nomad afforded Jeff many opportunities to travel. Jeff had lived and worked all over the world, and he was well-versed in many types of cultures. He appreciated diversity and looked at diversity as a means to broadening his network and discovering innovations. However, his life was motoring on in his career, working from all over the world.
Jeff Began to Notice a Shift
A trend that Jeff was starting to notice in the Post-Pandemic world was the idea of purposeful luxury. Younger entrepreneurs and professionals were defining success differently than the professionals and entrepreneurs who came before them. Whereas Baby Boomers and Gen X-ers defined luxury by how big their house was and how many cars were in the garage, Millennials and Gen Z-ers had a completely different vision of how to define success.
Is it Sustainable?
The foundation of that definition laid in sustainability. Jeff noticed that today’s young entrepreneurs and professionals desired luxurious items that were ethically produced and environmentally sustainable. As a relatively young man in his mid-forties, this was an idea that Jeff could get behind. After living in Houston, a city whose economic fortunes are largely tied to fossil fuels, Jeff found himself ready to explore the world again and discover a more natural setting to ply his trade and explore his new definition of success.
Relocation to Panama? Really??
One country that kept popping up on Jeff’s radar was Panama. Jeff knew Panama had grown by leaps and bounds over the past decade. He understood that Panama has positioned itself as one of the most sought-after destinations for American and Canadian expats, as well as Europeans. One of the main reasons for Panama’s popularity was its embracing of sustainability, which turned it into a sanctuary of purposeful luxury. Could a relocation to Panama from the US actually work?
Digital? Yes. Isolated? No
This was all well and good, but even digital nomads need some human interaction. Jeff quickly discovered that he needn’t worry about that with a relocation to Panama. There were communities all over the country populated by people who felt the same way he did about what modern success really meant. They were living in eco-friendly homes that merged with the natural surroundings, creating luxury with purpose.
Sustainable Luxury
For an extroverted and proactive person like Jeff, these communities offer multiple layers of paradise. He could live in a tropical climate surrounded by natural beauty, all while sharing it with like-minded people who can become friends, colleagues, and a broader part of a new network.
Natural Beauty
Not only that. Jeff’s relocation to Panama would include an opportunity to explore the natural beauty of Panama. Some people love the beach, some love the mountains, and others love the rainforests. Jeff was lucky because he loved all three, and all three are in abundance in Panama. He is a man who loved an active lifestyle, and that was also a part of purposeful luxury. He was looking for experiences, not just for stuff. Panama is a country waiting to be explored, with many experiences to take advantage of. All Jeff needed to do was get there.
