Free enterprise has long been the key for expats to find professional success in Panama. Many built-in advantages allow Panama to thrive. It’s a tropical country that never gets hurricanes. It has two long coastlines with pristine and beautiful beaches on the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. It is teaming with natural beauty from its beaches, jungles, and mountains, making it a true paradise on Earth. The evidence is here: Success for professionals in Panama is growing.

Setup For Economic Growth

Panama’s embracing of free enterprise and economic growth make it a paradise for professionals seeking success. Panama makes it easy for entrepreneurs to find professional success in Panama through the many visa options and a minimal amount of regulation. So many expats from the United States and Canada, as well as several European and Asian countries, have found success in Panama that the results largely speak for themselves.

Testimonials Mean A Lot!

But let’s allow some people to tell you their success stories and how you can find professional success in Panama.

Bob Adams wrote an article for Baron’s about how great it is to live as an entrepreneur in Panama.

“In five decades of working in more than 40 developing nations as a consultant focused on socio-economic development,” Adams writes, “nothing makes me happier than to reside full-time in a nation whose people pulled themselves together in the midst of dramatic and unexpected growth and dealt with it successfully. I am proud to call Panama my home.”

Adams pointed out that Panama’s success was based on three factors: Embracing free enterprise, intelligently dealing with immigration issues, and a common goal amongst political leaders regardless of party affiliation. Those factors built Panama’s success and created an environment that made it sustainable.

New York City or Panama? Ummm..

David Gold moved from New York City to Panama City in 2010. He told Cronkite News that he traveled there on a tourist visa and was later granted permanent residency. He owns a Spanish school and enjoys a standard of living that wouldn’t be attainable in New York, like “luxury apartments on the ocean here with four balconies overlooking the ocean, a block from where I would work, that maybe costs $1,500. That’s a lot of money in some parts of the U.S., but in New York, that’s a bedroom in a shared apartment in Queens – not even the nice part of Queens.”

Gold encourages people to move to Panama, but having a plan and starting your own business are the easiest paths to success.

Younger Generations See The Value in Panama

Matthew Marx of Ft. Lauderdale has lived in Panama for ten years as a Panamanian real estate company sales executive. He follows the trends of people moving in.

Matthew says, “But now I’m starting to see a younger wave of investors come in,” Marx told Cronkite News. “Just in this year, since January, two of my sales have been to investors who are in their early 30s.”

Panama is the financial and cultural hub of Central and South America. The data and real-world human experiences show that Panama will be one of the top places to live moving forward.
